At ShantKid Resorts, it is our commitment to acknowledging and respecting patient rights in all aspects of care. This Patient Rights Policy outlines the rights of all patients receiving care at our facilities.

1. Right to Quality Care

You have the right to:

Receive prompt, quality care in a safe, trusted and supportive environment

Be assessed and treated quickly and competently

Have your cultural, religious, and spiritual needs recognized

Have your pain and discomfort addressed

Have your personal needs addressed as much as possible

Be treated without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, or national origin

2. Right to Information

You have the right to:

Be fully informed about your health condition and treatment options (including risk factors)

Be fully informed about your proposed treatment, including risks, benefits, side-effects, cost, alternatives

Have information explained in a way that you can understand (or to an interpreter or your chosen representative if you cannot understand)

Receive copies of your health records in a timely manner upon written or emailed request (a fee may apply)

Request that information in your health record be corrected if it is incorrect or out of date

3. Right to Informed Consent

You have the right to:

Be informed about procedures and treatment options

Consent to or decline any treatment (if able/capable)

Receive and review the informed consent form for any procedure or surgery (before you agree to it)

Refuse treatment and be told the risks and consequences of not being treated

Ask for a second opinion regarding your treatment choices (if you wish to and in accord with insurance/payment policies)

4. Right to Privacy and Confidentiality

You have the right to:

Have your personal information be kept confidential

Have your information be disclosed only to those involved in your care (or with permission)

Be treated with respect, dignity, and privacy

Receive your oral information and documentation may be shared with (and if so with whom)

Have restrictions on disclosures of your health information

7. Right to Emergency Care

You have the right to:

Access emergency care if you need it

Receive immediate attention and treatment regardless

Be stabilized and transferred to an appropriate facility if you need a service or care (better) information about ambulance care

8. Right to Participate in Research (if applicable)

If you are asked to consent, you have the right to:

Be fully informed about the nature of the research study before participating

Refuse to participate in research at any time without affecting your care

Withdraw from a research if you have change of mind and it won't affect your future care

Have any study be performed as a written informed consent that complies with IRB

Patient Responsibilities

Along with your rights, you also have responsibilities, which include but not limited to the following:

  • Providing accurate information about your health history, current conditions, and medical history (as far as you know)
  • Follow the treatment or care regimen in which you have agreed
  • Report questions or problems about your proposed treatment plan
  • Treating healthcare providers and other staff with respect, courtesy and consideration
  • Respecting hospital property and others
  • Keep financial arrangements and billing obligations
